Fantastic, crisp results. I guess, even if Leica didn't actually make the lens, it will still have to perform to a suitably high standard for them to put their name to it. An excellent find.
I’ve done minimal research on it since, but from little research I’ve gathered, I’m under the impression Minolta manufactured it? Not sure if that’s correct or not. Maybe you have better insight?
That would make sense. There was an older model (whose name escapes me at the moment) made by Minolta. There were two versions as far as I recall, one badged Minolta, the other Leica. The price of the latter the best part of twice the price of the former simply for carrying the 'red spot'.
I wonder if that would be the Minilux zoom. I bought that one back in 2016 and I heard rumblings of it carrying a badge from another brand as well. I didn’t care lol…mine said Leica and that’s how I saw it. That’s why I think $40 was appropriate. I don’t think I’d pay more for it, although it goes for $200-$700 on eBay 😳
Yeah great find and the pics are perfect. Looks a lot like my neighbourhood right now with all the ice and snow. I love my little point and shoot Minolta but my god is it also loud.
and we are supposed to get more snow next week! But I am ready and stocked up on film, to document it all! I heard rumblings about this Leica being made by Minolta. I have to do research on it, but if your Minolta is loud…sort of makes me think those rumblings are true. It’s not just loud but also has a super annoying sound lol. It’s definitely not pleasant, but I love the pics. Which Minolta do you have?
What a great find! Leica is of course a dream camera for my collection and right now, a thrift find would be the only way I could afford one! My friend found a Polaroid Land Camera at an antique store for $20!!! Might have to visit our local antique store soon:)
I love thrifting and antiquing!! Even as a kid, I loved antique shops. I usually never get lucky like this. It felt overpriced at the time and I couldn’t believe I paid $40 for a camera I didn’t know worked. But looking at the prices of this now, I’m thankful I got it when I did. It is a little banged up though, but that usually never matters to me.
and you are leica shooter for only 40 dollars :)
EXACTLY!!!!! 🥳

$40 sounds like pretty good deal, especially judging by the results😎
Yeah, I have one of those in a box somewhere. Good to see these getting used, and with great results!
I was definitely surprised by results. I often have low expectations when it comes to point and shoot. But they always surprise me in the best of ways
Lovely!! I love me a good point and shoot 📸
Same!!!! And they are so easy to use and take anywhere!

its not about the image quality, its about the quality of the image.
I love that!!!!
